Armed Forces Outreach Meeting in Bridgnorth for South Shropshire residents

On Monday 10th February, Shropshire Council hosted an Armed Forces Outreach meeting at the Bridgnorth library, Listley Street, Bridgnorth, between 10:00 and 12:00.  This is the local group for South East Shropshire.  The Armed Forces Outreach programme is designed to provide help and support to all military personnel, veterans and their families.  Working with the service charities and organisations, the outreach assists and facilitates for the purpose of ensuring that current and former military personnel have access to the right support.

In order to engage with former members of the Armed Forces, Police Community Support Officer Malcolm Goddard (who is himself a veteran) attended the meeting, chatting to the Armed Forces veterans and staff from partner agencies at the meeting.   The discussions ranged far and wide, chatting about memories that one of the veterans had of growing up as a child in Shropshire during World War 2, another spoke of their time in West Berlin and a trip to East Berlin when Germany was still a divided nation and talking about which armed forces in Korea had the best food ration packs for the frontline troops.  Refreshments are always provided and anybody with a connection to the Armed Forces is welcome to attend, either for a chat or to seek assistance from the professionals present.

The meetings are held at the Bridgnorth Library on the second Monday of the month, between 10:00 and 12:00.  Unfortunately, the March meeting in Bridgnorth has been cancelled, however, there is an alternative Armed Forces Outreach Meeting at the RAF Museum, RAF Cosford, on Wednesday 12th March between 11:00 and 13:00, any Armed Forces veterans are welcome to attend.
